“Captain America: The First Avenger“ will add some fireworks to the closing night of the Hero Complex Film Festival.
Marvel Studios has picked the festival for the world premiere of the new trailer for the July 22 film that brings the star-spangled hero to the silver screen. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the patriotic character created by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon and the new film, directed by Joe Johnston and starring Chris Evans, opens a new chapter in the pop-culture life of the red-white-and-blue icon.
The trailer will be shown at 4 p.m. Sunday at the start of the double-feature screening of “Iron Man” and “Iron Man 2.” The guest of honor for the day is Jon Favreau, director of both Tony Stark films, who will be interviewed on stage by our Geoff Boucher between the two hit films that combined for $1.2 billion in worldwide box office. Expect some surprises on Sunday as well.
The Hero Complex Film Festival runs June 9-12. Single-day tickets are available. The free Pixar programming on Sunday — a noon screening of ”The Incredibles” followed by a “Cars 2″ preview — is now sold out but seats have been saved for fans that buy single-day tickets for the Marvel movies later in the day.
