The Story So Far - A Biography (chapter "fantastic" four)

The Story So Far - A Biography
Chapter "Fantastic" Four

A Storm was coming... Johnny Storm! In 2005 came Chris's big breakthrough when he played Johnny Storm a.k.a. The Human Torch in the movie Fantastic Four. Was it his ultra tight blue Fantastic Four suit or his witty comments? Chris Evans made an impression with his role in the 20th Century Fox's long-awaited adaptation of the Marvel comic.

In Fantastic Four a group of astronauts are changed forever when their spaceship is being hit by a cloud of cosmic radiation. Back home each of the astronauts find out that they develop special superpowers. Reed Richards, played by Ioan Gruffudd, has the ability to stretch his body like elastic, Sue Storm (Jessica Alba) can turn invisible and create force fields.

Her brother Johnny Storm (Chris Evans) becomes The Human Torch can fly and produce fire at supernova temperatures. Ben Grimm (Michael Chiklis) changes into The Thing, a man made out of rock and superstrong. Together they form the Fantastic Four. Their enemy: the evil Doctor Doom, played by Julian McMahon.

I remember seeing Chris Evans for the very first time in a movie special about the Fantastic Four on MTV. I do remember, thinking: hmm he's interesting;-) Then later his pictures started to appear all over the internet. That was the time when people really started to notice Chris Evans. I name the photoshoot by Roberto D'Este and the photoshoot for Flaunt Magazine by the infamous Tony Duran. And even today these pictures have the most hits on the internet.

With his looks and hot body Chris landed spots on several magazine countdowns and reached number 18 on E! Television's 2006 101 Sexiest Celebrity Bodies.

In 2007 the cast of Fantastic Four reprised their roles in 4: Rise Of The Silver Surfer.

Chris Evans On Higher Ground

posted on Tuesday June 16, 2009 (by ClickTheCity.com)

He has emerged in recent years as one of Hollywood's most in-demand young actors for both big budget and independent features. Now, Chris Evans takes on what’s perhaps his most serious role to date, playing Jimmy Dobyne, the handsome, plantation man in the searing drama, “The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond.”Based on the long-lost and rare original screenplay by legendary playwright Tennessee Williams, “Teardrop Diamond” will be shown exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas (Glorietta 4 & Greenbelt 3) starting June 17.

“I knew I wanted Chris Evans in the film very early on,” says director Jodie Markell. “He knows exactly what he’s doing. He finds these moments that are just moving and simple. He’s completely in keeping with that tradition of Williams’ men. He knows to hold it back.”

Growing up in Boston, Evans embraced live theater at a very early age, taking on roles in children’s theater and community productions. He cites his high school drama teacher, whose college dissertation was on Tennessee Williams, as the one person who most nurtured his appreciation for the playwright.“To get to interpret an original Tennessee Williams’ character at this point is kind of like finding a lost Beatle’s album and being the first one to hear it” says Evans. “The beautiful thing about working on this project is you can’t change the script. Every word was holy. So not only is the text protected, but then as an actor your job is to make sense of everything. If something doesn’t feel right, or you can’t understand something, you can’t just change it. You can’t take liberties, you can’t go off book, you can’t ad-lib or paraphrase.”

While the actor approaches his own work with a certain degree of modesty, his co-star does not share his opinion: “I strongly believe that this performance is going to be a defining moment for Chris” says Bryce Dallas Howard. “It’s going to show people that he is a movie star of the ilk of Paul Newman and Robert Redford. I remember looking at him on a monitor one day and it just sort of took my breath away. I suddenly got really nervous being around him. He is so devastatingly handsome. He has the qualities of those classic, old time movie stars. Being strong and silent but with an intense vulnerability. All of those elements are very much present in his portrayal of this character.”Both actors found each other to have a similar working process, which given the intimate nature of the material, led to a great deal of mutual preparation. “Bryce works the way I work” says Evans. “We are both deeply, deeply in love with the process of rehearsal. We both come from a theater background where you spend weeks or months just running dialogue, talking about the script and the characters, or spending time together trying to build trust as people so that when you get on set you truly feel prepared. We were there a couple of weeks before shooting, and all we did – all day, every day – was just rehearse, rehearse, rehearse. She’s the most prepared actress I’ve ever met in my life. There’s not one line she speaks that she doesn’t truly, fully, completely understand.”

The Story So Far - A Biography (chapter three)

The Story So Far - A Biography

Chapter Three

The year 2004 had another big movie role for Chris in store, Cellular. In this movie Chris played the role of Ryan, a young man who receives an emergency phonecall from an unknown woman who claims to have been kidnapped. The woman, Jessica Martin, is played by Kim Basinger and her kidnapper (Greer) is played by Jason Statham.

At first Ryan thinks the phonecall is a joke, but then Jessica gets Ryan's attention when she tells him that her kidnappers are going to kill her husband and son. About Cellular Chris said in an interview:"Cellular was the first film that I really felt my friends might actually enjoy. This is a film that I can be really proud of. Not to say that I'm not proud of my other films, but this is definitely a different calibre in a way."

Although Cellular was a very entertaining film, had nonstop action in it and a great cast it wasn't a box-office hit.

There was one actress in Cellular who won Chris's heart. Jessica Biel played the role of Chloe in the movie. She and Chris started dating and they had a relationship for over two years. In June 2006 though their relationship ended.

In 2005 Chris Evans, Jessica Biel and Jason Statham joined forces again in the movie London. In this movie Chris played Syd a drug-addict who is missing his ex-girlfriend London, played by Jessica Biel.

When Syd finds out that a friend of London is throwing her a going away party, he decides to go to the party without an invitation and is joined by his dealer (Jason Statham).

It's 2005 when a Storm breaks loose...
